I’m excited to start this post! I thank my good friend Jane Harris, for getting my butt in gear to start this post!
Who is this “Dream Dean” guy? Long story short…when I was an Assistant Dean at the College of William and Mary, students couldn’t remember my name (Bill Johnson), but they were able to remember “the guy who always talks about your dreams – the Dream Dean.” It’s a name that I always treasured and decided to bring it back to life!
I’ve been in higher education for over 23 years in a variety of capacities…and have basically played it fairly safe my entire academic career. However, I’ve been reading wonderful books on life and entrepreneurship (most recently Chris Guillebeau’s “The $100 Start-up,” Daniele LaPorte’s “Fire Starter Sessions,” and Jonathan Fields’ “Uncertainty”) – and each one, in its own way, has inspired me to answer the ONE question that’s bugging me: What the hell am I here to do? On this earth? In my job? With my family? With my life?
I thought I knew the answer, but I’ve just realized that I don’t! So I want to use this blog as a way to help me answer this question – and help others to the same. I want to take my work – where I help people find their path – to another level. Haven’t defined it, but I do know that I want to add more fire, more passion, more excitement to my work! I know that I want to give more of me and my work to everyone I meet! I look forward to this journey, this new chapter in my life. And I hope that I get to travel with a few of you!
So, as I end this post,
What the hell are YOU here to do?
I look forward to seeing your answers…
