Question: What is the number one thing missing from your environment right now?
Answer: I can’t say that there’s anything that’s missing from my environment right now. I’m a pretty old-school kind of guy, knowing that I have a roof over my head and food on my plate. Everything else is just gravy, right? Other than feeling appreciated every once in a while at work, life is good. To be honest, if there’s something that I need for my environment, I just get it. Since I’m satisfied with everything, this makes my answer to this question easy.
I just finished reading a great article by Mark Manson about delayed gratification. He references the “marshmallow test” from years ago, which is the standard study on self-control. He shares that delayed gratification has been found to positively increase your life and many different areas; so why isn’t this taught in schools if there are so many positive benefits? Sounds like a similar argument for meditation! Check out his excellent take on delayed gratification here:
