the year of you, day 218

Question: What, to you, is the purpose of money?

Answer: Let me start off by saying that I finally missed a day. And it’s too bad because I had it in my inbox, but I just never bothered to send it out. So be it. The fact that I wrote for 216 days in a row was amazing in itself. Now, I get to start another streak.

Money is a tool that allows you the flexibility to engage in “things” that are aligned with how you want to live your life. The more money you have, the more you can engage in things that matter; the less you have, the less things you can engage in. Money allows me to do things I like to do, it allows me to eat things that I like and nourish my body and soul, and it provides me a way to save for a comfortable future, whatever that may be. I think money makes my life easier now, where I don’t have to struggle just getting though each day, each week, and/or each month. I’m at the point in my life where I’m not “controlled” by money, so I don’t have to make decisions based on whether I have enough money or not. I lived that way for so, so long that I can now breathe a little bit and focus my energy on building money for retirement vs paying off debt. Although I can’t look into the future, I sometimes worry about Rebecca and money, since she doesn’t have the same philosophy as I do regarding money. I wonder if she’s even thinking about retirement much, since she sees it as this thing that’s way off in the future. I guess it’s one of those things that make me worry a little…
