Question: What would a 100% positive relationship with money look like to you?
Answer: I believe that I have a positive relationship with money right now. Is it 100%? I don’t know if there’s a way to quantify a positive relationship with money, but I’ll try. I believe that one of the keys to having a positive relationship with money is to be able to handle money-related emergencies when they occur. For example, a few years ago, our heating/air conditioning unit decided to stop working – and we didn’t blink an eyelash to replace it and pay for it. I have multiple savings/emergency accounts that were created to handle all types of emergencies, so in that respect, it’s definitely 100% positive. Yes, there could always be more money in those pots, but at least there’s enough to handle emergencies when they arrive. For the most part, our retirement accounts are doing fine; we have to work on Rebecca’s state retirement account, but other than that, things are moving along well for those accounts as well. I do have targets that I’m hoping to achieve by the time I’m around 64 years old – when (hopefully) the house will be paid off and I will have 20 years in the NC System. I think it’s safe to say that I’m in a comfortable state with money right now, but we know that that could change in an instance.
