Question: What are three small things you’re grateful for today?

Answer: There are so many things that I’m grateful for…so, limiting it to three is hard. But here goes:

(1) I’m grateful for my health. I’m so thankful that I can get out of bed in the morning and bust out a workout. Last week, I read a story on ESPN that talked about a pro football player that was driving drunk and hit a woman from behind at 127mph! Her car exploded on impact and she and her dog were killed in the crash – and the player suffered minor injuries. And to think, the same thing happened to me several weeks ago, where the crash punctured my gas tank, but for some reason, my car didn’t explode. So glad to be here and be around to share.

(2) I’m grateful for all of the wonderful people (and animals) in my life. My daughters, my wife, our dog Laci, my dear friends, my Life Design Catalyst Community…just to name a few. These connections mean so much more to me now than in the past, when I was more of an independent thinker. Nowadays, I would consider myself more of an interdependent thinker, knowing that meaningful partnerships are the key to success, not trying to do everything on my own.

(3) I’m grateful that God had endowed me with the drive/obsession to do Life Design Catalyst work, work that inspires me to get out of bed every morning. I can’t say that I’m doing the work at the PLACE I want to do the work, but I do know that it’s the work that I KNOW that I want to do. When I get the opportunity to do a presentation/workshop on some aspect of LDC work, you can tell that there’s definite joy while doing it. I was thinking back to my evaluations from the 2021 NACADA National Conference; reading comment after comment on how much I helped people connect to deeper parts of themselves AND how much they were inspired by the positive energy I brought to the work – that’s just affirmation that I’m on the right path. So now, I just have to find a way to continue to do LDC work on a grander scale – or at least at a different place.

So those are three small (actually they’re pretty large) things I’m grateful for today.

Other Stuff

Typically, I don’t share articles on the weekends, since I don’t seem to have as many people reading the posts as they do on the weekdays. However, since we are getting closer to the end of 2021, I thought I would share a gem each day, regardless of whether it’s a week day or weekend day. And today, I read a really good one on identity. One of the things I’m having my classes do this week is identify a few bullet points regarding the “story” they want told about their lives, as it pertains to service, since the focus of the “What Could I Do With My Life” course was focused on how to use your gifts in service to the world. Here’s the article:

So, what’s the identity you want to have when you think about the work you want to do and/or how you serve others (and/or the world)? Remember, you get to choose what this looks like, as well as how you want to live it every day. How much fun is that? P.S. Here’s my identity statement for my “work”: World’s Best Life Design Catalyst!
