Last week, I read this article, where it addressed why it’s so hard to make a change:
- Why Can’t I Change? The 16 Voices in Your Head Stopping You From Reaching Your Dreams – https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/why-cant-i-change-the-16-voices-in-your-head-stopping-you-from-reaching-your-dreams.html
As I’m reading it, it made me think of the “voices” that speak to me at various times: Cynic, Self-Reliance, and Guilt-Tripper. After reading the article, it was good to finally put labels to the voices that pop up in my head every now and then.
And if you know what it’s like to go down “rabbit holes,” I investigated further and clicked on the link at the bottom of the article, which took me here:
- Why Is It So Hard to Change? A detailed primer on investigating and resolving resistance – https://every.to/p/why-is-it-so-hard-to-change
How do I overcome resistance (and resistance ALWAYS comes)? Two things: (1) Just face the resistance and do it anyway, and (2) tell myself, “Just do it.” And 9 times out of 10, these two things work. Every now and then, I do put thing off – until the “pain to change” becomes greater than the “pain to stay.”
Hope you find the articles useful!
