Question: What tools or practices (for example, journaling) do you use to help your growth?
Answer: I’m convinced that if I didn’t work out every day like I do, my life would be a shit show. That’s been the one constant in my life through my first divorce, both parent’s deaths, difficult work issues throughout the years, and my current situation at UNCG and with Rebecca. But I also know that there’s more that I can do to help me grow even more. There’s at least two or three things that I want to start doing – and August 1st (tomorrow/Sunday) would be the perfect time for me to start. They are:
- Create a meditation practice that’s at least 5 minutes a day.
- Do yoga (using my old yoga routine that’s 17 minutes before bed) at least three days a week.
- Journal right before bed – three wins for the day and three “goal” wins for tomorrow (from this video by Benjamin Hardy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fcf3sIdX-U).
It’s my belief that both my physical and mental state will improve by incorporating these practices into my routine. Plus, if I do them and they are successful, maybe I can influence a few others to do the same. To be honest, what do I have to lose; I had a tough emotional day yesterday and didn’t handle it well. If I can do these practices, it should help move things in the right direction.
