a little break…

Hello Everyone!

I decided to take a little bit of a break from posting, due to the craziness of life. Since I made the decision to retire from UNCG (the 3-month countdown begins April 1, 2022), I’ve been taking the time to live with greater purpose – become a better version of myself in service to something bigger than myself.

To become a better version of myself, one of the things I decided to do is start playing golf again. I thought I wouldn’t miss the game after taking about 3-4 months off…WRONG! I missed being outside, especially on nice days. I play mostly by myself and realized how much it’s a form of therapy for me. I don’t think about work, I don’t think about home life…I just think about golf.

Since my body was feeling great, I decided to carry my bag (graphite clubs, lighter bag) instead of using a riding cart and a pull cart. Well, after two days of carrying my bag last week, my body has been screaming at me for the past 3 days, especially my back. I’m pushing through the agony of trying to bend without pain (hard to do when you’re trying to do sit-ups or picking up dog poop), so I decided to invest in a deep tissue massager to help.

(Speaking of a Massager, here’s a fun video on “Should You Buy A Massage Gun? 10 Pros & 10 Cons” by Bob and Brad, two ordinary physical therapist who decided to create their own deep tissue massager – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG8p0wykCsY. It’s a goofy video, but they’re having fun and I LOVE IT!)

If you are ever in the market for a deep tissue massager to take care of aches and pains, I’ve done the research and found two that received EXCELLENT reviews! Plus, you can get a 25% (on one) or 30% (on two) discount on all purchases! When I did the math for shipping, I was able to purchase two – and here are the two deep tissue massagers that I decided to get:

For A TOTAL of $77 (including tax), I was able to purchase one of each model, since I couldn’t decide which one to get. And if you look at reviews, this is a great deal, since it’s a price where you would most likely pay for ONE massager. I guess I’ll be using one and giving Rebecca the other one! By the way, I am no way a sponsor or getting a commission; I just thought I would share in case SOMEONE out there is interested in or looking for a massager.

I’m excited about the possibilities of using this device on my back, my shoulders, my calves, and my ankles, especially after my morning 9+ mile walks (3 days a week) and 20+ mile bike rides (3 days a week). Yes, these are the tools us “old” people need to invest in to get through our days!

I’ll be posting more frequently (2-3 times a week), now that the retirement countdown will begin the end of this week. There are SOOOO many fun things going on right now that I look forward to sharing this journey with you in the upcoming months!

Happy living, my friends!

  1. I was wondering what happened to you. I miss your posts when you don’t write. Glad all is well with you.

    • Hi Renata. Thanks for thinking about me. Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately, knowing that I’m ending one chapter (UNCG) and, at the same time, already starting my new chapter (Davidson-Davie Community College). Seems like a lot of people are excited about me doing Life Design Catalyst work at the community college level. To be honest, that’s where I feel like I need to be! I hope all is well on your end.
