I’ve been asked to give a presentation to a group of incoming first-year Latino students on Tuesday. My presentation is focused on the connection between purpose and major/career (and I would add “calling”). As I gather my resources together to get them to look at their educational experience in a different way, I was drawn back to an article I recently read about helping young people think about purpose.
Here’s an article that you might find interesting and/or helpful, depending on your work:
“How These Teens Found Their Sense of Purpose” – https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_these_teens_found_their_purpose_in_life
Since I believe that one of the foundations of purpose is to identify how you want to serve, one of the activities I will have them do is to share their answers to these five questions with someone they don’t know:
- What am I here to contribute?
- What problem am I here to solve?
- What am I committed to create?
- What is my ultimate concern?
- What am I TRULY here to do?
This should get the ball rolling, don’t you think?
