Last Friday evening, I was asked to be a speaker/storyteller at an event titled, “Storytime and Wine: Men and Masculinity, Part II” as part of a series or workshops through my friend Zitty’s company Deftable (check it out here: https://www.deftable.com/).
I won’t lie, I was nervous; didn’t know what to expect, plus my wife Rebecca would be there. And I was asked to share my story, many of the audience strangers to me. Needless to say, got past the jitters and was able to share my story with others, sharing more than I ever thought I would share. Fun evening for sure!
The event made me think about an article I remember reading a few weeks ago, with the opening quote by Thoreau: “The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation.” The event last Friday and this article really emphasizes the need for men to get help and support to lead fulfilling, purposeful, thriving lives – instead of lives in quiet desperation.
