As many of you know, I am a big Brene Brown fan! From showing her TED Talk in our “What Could I Do With My Life” course (to help our students developing an “I Am Statement” to define how they will live their truth every day) to recommending her documentary “A Call to Courage” as a +1 to these same students.
As I was searching for +1 videos/articles to share with them this week, I came across this Brene Brown video. The following is a presentation she did at the education version of south by southwest conference. In this video, she’s sharing her thoughts on how vulnerability and shame can impact classrooms – and how educators can develop “daring classrooms.” Here’s the link:

As I watched the video, it make me think about our My Life Story Poster and Presentations Projects this week, where students are being vulnerable in sharing their story with a few of their classmates. I will share more about this experience in another post, but I wonder what our classrooms would look like if we gave students more opportunities to share their story authentically. If you have 33 minutes, check out the talk!
She’s my hero!
