It’s been a while since I last posted; life and work sometimes get in the way!
I plan to share several posts over the next few days, so get ready for great stuff!
As we get closer to the end of our “What Could I Do With My Life” class this semester, I wanted to share two videos we’re using to end class periods this semester.
In Week 12, students:
- Complete the “Life’s Work” activity, where they identify “how” they will serve profoundly, based on their meaningful work (“why”) and the specific problem they will solve for others (‘what”) in four categories: Educational, Experiential, Employable, and Entrepreneurial.
- Are given the Instructions to complete their Personal Charter, a portrait of their life, based on everything they’ve learned about themselves over the course of the semester.
At the end of class, we show this video to inspire them to create a poster with purpose:
- The Purpose (Tony Robbins) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LSmJIe4luY
In Week 13, students present their Personal Charters in small groups. To address “what’s next,” we show this video:
- What If You Could? (David Goggins) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipVrphmIIkQ
This video provides the inspiration for students to consider enrolling in our second semester first-year experience course, “Redesign a Life You’ll Love.”
In a nutshell, our first semester course is focused on “serving profoundly”; the second semester course is focused on “becoming your best self” – which is how we define PURPOSE in the Life Design Catalyst Program.
