Hello good friends! I hope that the end of 2020 is going well and you’re ready to start 2021!
I’m writing to invite you to join me (on my blog – The Dream Dean) for a year-long project that I’ve decided to undertake this year to get back “to my roots.” A couple of weeks ago, I purchased the book, “The Year of You: 365 Journal Writing Prompts for Creative Self-Discovery” by Hannah Braime (here’s the link to Amazon if you’d like to purchase the kindle version for 99 cents – https://www.amazon.com/Year-You-Journal-Creative-Self-Discovery-ebook/dp/B076Z6Y5L9/ref=sr_1_1). I thought it would be a great way to get connected with myself – and the perfect way to do it.
So, every day in 2021, I am going to blog my answer to each day’s question for the world to see. It’s vulnerability at its best – but that’s how I roll. Not only will I share my answers, but on most days I will also share something interesting that I’ve read or watched, or maybe a great price on a kindle. No obligation to join – but thought I would share in case it’s something you’d like to do yourself. I’m also looking at this as an opportunity to do some serious self-coaching, asking myself the question every day, “Is what I’m doing (or what I’m about to do) making me a better person and/or profoundly serving others? It’s purpose work at its best, my friends. Some of the entries will be short, some will be long…since I’ve only read the first week of prompts, I’m not sure what to expect.
And before I write, I’m to start each session with a 5-10 minute meditation, just to clear my head and prepare the space. Each week, I’m going to start with a different meditation, so every Friday will be a different meditation. Why? It’s my way to incorporate two self-care practices into my day (along with movement/exercise). These might be great ways for you to get started if you don’t have a practice right now. (P.S. Check out this TED Talk by Shawn Anchor, “The Happy Secret for Better Work” – https://www.ted.com/talks/shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_better_work – on why this matters).
I’m excited for what 2021 will bring…so join me as I take on this next adventure. If you decide to check things out – I’ll see you starting tomorrow! Have a peaceful day and Happy New Year (in advance)!
