Question: Are you a city or country person? Why?
Answer: I would consider myself a suburban person, something in between. I like the convenience of being in close proximity to grocery shopping and recreational activities, as well as having neighbors of similar interest, but I also need to be away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Don’t like to be around places with lots and lots of people, lots of noise, lots of business. I guess that’s why I prefer really early morning workouts, when it’s quiet and there aren’t a lot of people around. Cities are okay to visit once in a while, but for the most part, would rather sit and relax by a lake vs hang out in a coffee shop in a city. I used to get my dose of big cities when I traveled to conferences; now, not so much. Maybe that will change in 2022 – or maybe the end of 2021. We’ll see… And I’ve been around big cities for most of my life – New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC – and have spent quite a bit of time in Atlanta. Can’t say a single one got me excited to visit. Even smaller cities, like Charlotte, don’t do anything for me. Fun to visit once in a while, but wouldn’t want to live there. Just know that I have ZERO interest in living in the country as well. If I have to drive 30 minutes to pick up items like milk, that about 20 minutes too long. I like convenience as well. Makes me think back to my days before I got a driver’s license, when I had to walk, bike, or take the bus wherever I had to go. Learned to be self-sufficient and portable, for the most part. So, continue to look for the happy medium between the two.
