Question: How easy or hard do you find asking for help when you need it?

Answer: Growing up, it was hard because I was in an environment where you were suppose to figure things out on your own. That mentality stayed with me for a long, long time, even as I became more successful. But it was causing a lot of stress and anxiety in me because I always felt like that I not only had to do twice as much as a typical person, but it had to be twice as good. That would cause me to work A LOT! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been more comfortable asking for help, knowing that two (or more) brains are always better than one. I still have those tendencies to just go it alone, but I’ve also been much better about asking for help when I don’t know or when I’m overwhelmed. Of course, Google has an answer for almost anything these days, so I can learning to do almost anything through the internet. For instance, yesterday, I found the instructions to remove the page number from the first page of my Word document; where did I find it? Google, of course. Before I ask someone, I always look to see if I can figure it out myself on Google, since I’m the type of person that has to try things first in order to learn. I’m grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life that have been so helpful and supportive on my life’s journey, one that’s not even close to being over. There’s a WHOLE lot more work to be done, that’s for sure.

Other Stuff

Since this month is on relationships, I read an interesting article yesterday. Let’s just say it was about the dark side, about ending relationships. Let’s just say it’s nice to read many different perspectives about relationships, since that seems to be a topic that I’m very interested in addressing with young people (along with money stuff).
