Relaxing Music for the week: My Quiet Spirit: Liquid Mind (10:52) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qD1tif1eGs
Question: Do you think tending to your spiritual side is important? Why (or why now)?
Answer: My first response to the question was “Really?” But then I realized that the author doesn’t know me or have read my previous posts. So, knowing that, my response would be “Definitely Yes!!!” I believe that we have to tend to all four pieces of health and well-being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. All four need to be integrated into one’s life in order to live a “whole” life. Neglect one, the whole life things falls apart. The spiritual side is the connection to one’s higher power and to one’s soul, so they are just as important as the other three. I think it’s interesting that almost every institution, including K-12, focus just on mental health and rarely, if ever, address the other three pieces. And you would think, in the School of HEALTH and HUMAN SCIENCES, we would focus on these four facets of health and well-being. But alas, we do not. It’s all about mental health – and I believe just focusing on this ONE aspects hurts our students and our School. We could be the leaders, but they aren’t interested. Too bad, since I’ll find a place that IS interested is working with the spiritual side, as well as the other three areas!
