Question: Think of your closest relationships right now. What is one thing you could do today to make that relationship more satisfying and harmonious?
Answer: Just stay in touch on a regular basis. I have a few absolutely wonderful people in my life right now and I need to make sure they know how I feel about them, especially with the changes going on in my life right now. When I think about the work that I really want to do for the next 5-10 years of my life, I imagine that my closest relationships will have a hand in the place where I get to do this work, whether it’s in North Carolina or somewhere else. At this point, I’m almost willing to go anywhere, as long as I can do Life Design Catalyst work and I don’t have to do registration, scheduling, and degree planning. And I know that I don’t want to supervise people…maybe one or two at the most, but I know that I thrive best when I answer to one person and no one answers to me. And having access to a population of students is important because they can be my test subjects for new tools. I say all that because these will be the people to help me move forward with this work in the future.
Other Stuff
Just an update…so, as far as my fitness goals. I set the following 2021 fitness goals:
- 1,000 miles running/walking/elliptical
- 3,000 miles indoor/outdoor cycling
- 10,000 push-ups and sit-ups, and
- 6,000,000 steps.
Yesterday (Saturday, June 26th) marked the half-way point of my workout year and here are the results:
- 613 miles running/walking/elliptical
- 1,803 miles indoor/outdoor cycling
- 6,310 push-ups and sit-ups
- 3,703,677 steps
As you can see, I’m well on my way to complete my fitness goals. I imagine that things will change over the course of the latter half of the year, since I’ll have to go into work every day to teach every day when the Fall Semester starts. I’ll have to be very diligent about my workouts, potentially getting up a little earlier to continue the great pace. I think it’s the main thing keeping me sane these days.
At some point over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be taking a look at a few other goals I wanted to accomplish in other areas of my life this past year…
