Question: Make a list of health stepping stones, the key health-related events in your life up to today.
Answer: I haven’t had many key health-related events that have been stepping stones to who/what I am today. Here are a few:
- Back in the early 90’s when my friend Veronica Pick got me to start eating breakfast.
- When my second daughter was born (Bethany) in December 1999, I decided to go on an exercise regime by following Dr. Kenneth Cooper’s point system. Started it on January 2, 2000 and have been on the system ever since. I’ve tacked EVERY exercise activity I’ve done every day since that day.
- In 2016, I was moving around furniture for our new Life Design Center in McIver Building. I noticed my ankle swelling up for no reason. After a visit to the doctor, MRI, and an emergency room visit, found out I had a HUGE blood clot in my right thigh AND a small clot in my right lung. NOT GOOD!
I don’t have a ton of health-related events because changes have always been gradual, adding something here and there to see if it works. As far as the workouts and point system, never did I think that that first 8 1/2 mile run on January 2, 2000 would turn into this 21+ obsession of tracking my fitness activities over the years. It starts one step at a time, right?
Other Stuff
As I contemplate my answers to “What Now? What’s Next?”, I’ve been reading lots of articles and books about recreating your career/job. Here’s one that caught my eye this morning:
- 3 rules to making big career decisions with no regrets – https://www.fastcompany.com/90689873/the-3-rules-to-making-big-career-and-life-decisions-with-no-regrets
Another interesting articles, as I am contemplating how I can do more of what I REALLY want to do on a daily basis.
