A couple of weeks ago, one of my favorite authors, Benjamin Hardy, shared a couple of questions which I thought could be useful for anyone interested in a quick reflection over the first month of 2025.
Here are the three questions:
- So far in 2025, what is exciting you most?
- So far in 2025, what is surprising you most?
- So far in 2025, where do you see the biggest difference in yourself VS. who you were in 2024?
So, here are my answers to the three questions.
- So far in 2025, what is exciting you most? For the first time since I retired in July 2023, I feel like I have definite clarity about what I’m supposed to do with my life. I’ve always helped others find purpose and meaning in their lives – and now I feel I found it for myself! Hint: Purpose and meaning in my life can be summed up in my new Seven-Word Life Motto for 2025: “Gonna stand for what I believe, 24:7:365.”
- So far in 2025, what is surprising you most? My level of focus. I don’t think I’ve had a day since the start of the new year where I haven’t been engaged. For 2025 (and hopefully beyond), I dedicated myself to answering this question: “Did I do something today that made me better, made someone else better, or made the world a little better?” Asking myself this question every day gives me the incentive to get stuff done.
- So far in 2025, where do you see the biggest difference in yourself vs. who you were in 2024? In 2024, I let myself go a little bit. The medicine I’m taking for the Prostate Cancer has had more of a profound effect on me than I thought. Loss of muscle mass, hot flashes, weight gain, lack of energy/motivation all came to the forefront in my life in 2024. For 2025, knowing that these are the things I have to deal with, instead of using them as excuses, use them as fuel to get my ass going again. I’ve started taking the steps necessary to get back to my pre-cancer levels of motivation/energy – and it all starts with the workouts.
So, that my evaluation of the first month of 2025. What about you? Will you take the time to reflect on your January 2025, using the three questions above? Are you up for the challenge?
