march 2025 reflection

Here are the March 2025 reflection questions:

  1. What has been most consistent for you since the start of 2025?
  2. What was the biggest change, your greatest achievement, and/or most profound progress made in March 2025?
  3. If you were being bold and focused, what action could you take in April 2025 that could profoundly impact your life?

Answers:

  1. What has been most consistent for you since the start of 2025? I’ve been really focused on making sure I spend at least 300 minutes each week moving my body, whether that’s walking in my neighborhood, playing tennis, playing golf (walking), playing pickleball, or working out on the elliptical/Schwinn air dyne in my basement. I’ve also been focused on getting 100,000 steps each week. After 13 weeks into 2025, I’m averaging a shade under 103,000 steps a week. I’m also averaging over 120 push-ups and sit-ups each week. It’s my hope to increase this number once I find out the status of my rotator cuff injury to my right arm/shoulder.
  2. What was the biggest change, your greatest achievement, and/or most profound progress made in March 2025? It was time for me to reach out to people to discuss potential collaboration around purpose and meaning exploration. This month, I reached out to three places that have purpose centers on their campuses (two at community colleges, one at a four-year institution), with the hopes that we might be able to create some type of “purpose coalition” in higher education. I’ve met with one school in March, have meetings with the other two schools in April. So exciting! I also gave a keynote speech at a community college conference and combined that with my first vacation trip with Rebecca.
  3. If you were being bold and focused, what action could you take in April 2025 that could profoundly impact your life? I’ve been thinking about this for two days…and the only “bold and focused action” I could think of that could profoundly impact my life is losing weight (getting myself under 200 pounds). I had a physical exam in early March – and found out that both my A1C/Blood Glucose and Cholesterol numbers were the highest they have ever been in my life. As I looked back at my numbers before cancer and after cancer, I noticed that my numbers were great when I was exercising like a crazy fool – 1,000 miles running/walking/elliptical, 3,000 miles biking, 10,000 push-ups and sit-ups, and 20,000 steps per day. Now, I can barely do half this amount (other than the steps) – and I believe my health is paying for it. Now, I’m on two additional drugs (two go with the three that I’m already on) – and not happy about it. So, I’m going to challenge myself to get under 200 pounds by the end of the month – which is about 2 pounds a week. I feel that – between drugs, diet, and exercise – I can get off the medicine.

So, that’s my reflection for March/April 2025. What about you?
