Question: What energizes you more: spending time alone or spending time with other people?
Answer: The short answer is BOTH. When I’m around various members of the Life Design Catalyst Tribe, I feel energized and refreshed because I know that we’ll have some pretty engaging and enlightening conversations. But then I need a little bit of downtime to recharge. It’s the same way with sporting activities; in the moment of playing, I’m pretty engaged and give 100%. When I’m done, I want to just veg and relax, just to have time to recover. I think about our Life Design Catalyst Trainings that are in person twice a year (pre-COVID); the last in-person training we had (December 2019), the best parts of the Training didn’t happen during the Training hours, but in the hours during and after dinner, when we would stay up and chat for hours about various aspects of life. Those were most memorable and meaningful for me, and I’m sure others felt the same way. I miss that so, so much – which is why I hope we get to do our June Training in person, even if it’s a smaller group. Craving the rich conversation with the group, that’s for sure. But also realize that I do spend a lot of time alone, whether it’s reading or writing, or on the golf course; there’s definitely inner peace in place of solitude. I just have to be careful not to have TOO MUCH solitude…then I get down and slightly depressed. I guess it’s good that we have Laci (our dog), because make it a point to get outside and explore the beauty of the world at least for a few minutes.

If you have trouble making decision, this short (less than 6 minutes) video by Tim Ferris might be helpful for you. Check it out here:

I like how he breaks it down into 3 different levels, whether it’s basic decisions or really important decisions. If you find a nugget in his wisdom, please share.
