Question: If you could choose one area in which to deepen your expertise, what would it be?

Answer: So, I’ve already put my all of my eggs in the self-help/personal development arena, so I don’t think I’m going to move away from that area. However, if there’s an area I would like to deepen my expertise, it’s the area of fear and limiting beliefs. What are the things that keep people from making change? Many times, it’s fear and/or limiting beliefs. I have identified the fears and limiting beliefs that hold people back; what I haven’t been able to grasp well is how to minimize their effects on moving forward. I’ve been reading several books the past couple of weeks on developing one’s self…and I’m getting a sense that it’s more about establishing a process/system rather than changing the behavior. Most of the things that I have read lately center around James Clear’s book, “Atomic Habits,” so it looks like I need to read it again, this time with more depth. I wonder if it’s going to matter much in my current position; however, I think it’s one of those things that could make a HUGE difference as I move forward in the future. It’s funny…I had my performance evaluation yesterday; although I felt like I accomplished a great deal this academic year, I left my evaluation feeling as if my performance was mediocre at best. For example, one of the goals I set for the year was to start publishing articles about education and learning; this year, I actually published four articles for a magazine – and it wasn’t even addressed at all. No recognition of the work that I’ve done in changing the courses from in-person to online. And nothing about creating tools and resources to help students connect deeper with their soul – and student feedback on how much they’ve learned about themselves. And none of that mattered. So I’m going to put my head down and keep finding ways to improve Life Design Catalyst work to help students get clearer about themselves, their “work,” and their future.

Other Stuff

Do you ever find yourself a little sluggish during the day? My time is usually in the afternoon, around 2pm, when I feel like I’m ready to take a nap. If you’re like me, you’re trying to find little ways to get your body going, especially if you spend most of your time sitting in front of a computer. I found this little “gem” of an article yesterday, drank 10 ounces of water, then took Laci out for a short walk. Felt recharged! Yeah for small things! Here’s an article that might help:

Choose one and go with it!
