Question: How do you feel about exercise?

Answer: How do I feel about exercise? Wow, that’s an easy one! If you’ve read this blog over time, you know that exercise and fitness are part of my core being, as much a part of my life as Life Design Catalyst work – and possibly even more. Most people would say that I am obsessed with exercise, since I exercise at least six days a week – and most days it’s seven days a week. In fact, at least two or three days a week, I will do two different activities a day – usually a workout in the morning, then something in the afternoon, such as golf, tennis, or pickleball. For example, this past week, I did a nine-mile walk (morning) and 2 hours of pickleball (afternoon) on Sunday, a 19-mile ride (morning) and a USTA doubles tennis match (evening) on Monday, and a 20-mile ride (morning) and walked 9 holes of golf (after work). And that’s what it was like most weeks for me with exercise. I follow a point system developed by Dr. Kenneth Cooper at the Cooper Institute that has been a staple in my life since the start of the century (2000). I typically set a yearly goal of 1,000 miles running/walking/elliptical, 3,000 miles indoor/outdoor cycling, and 10,000 push-ups and sit-ups. And this year, I decided to add steps to my workout goal, where my original goal was to do 5.5 million steps for 2021. In July, when I realized that I have over 3 million steps, I set my target to 6 million steps for the year. Well, I decided to adjust my step goal again because I should hit 6 million steps by the end of October. New target – 7 million steps. We’ll see if I can average 20,000 steps a day for the whole year. Yes, exercise is extremely important to me!
